- In an effort to combat pollution in Delhi-NCR, the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, has submitted a concept for artificial rain.
- The Government of Delhi has been notified of this proposal.
- The parameters needed to create artificial rain have been worked on for more than five years by IIT Kanpur, and in July, a successful test was conducted.
- Government agencies, such as the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, have given the researchers authorization to use cloud seeding.
- Certain climatic elements, such the presence of clouds with enough moisture and the right winds, are necessary for artificial rain.
The most often utilized substances for cloud seeding are dry ice (solid carbon dioxide), potassium iodide, and silver iodide.
