- The recently concluded Uttar Pradesh Cabinet meeting approved the creation of state universities in three districts within the state.
- These state universities will be created in the districts of Gonda, Mirzapur, and Moradabad.
- The UP State Universities Act, 1973, has been amended to allow for the establishment of state universities in these districts.
- This amendment will now be introduced in the state legislature.
- In Gonda, the ‘Maa Pateshwari Devi State University’ will be founded.
- In Mirzapur, the ‘Maa Vindhyavasini State University’ will be founded.
‘Uttar Pradesh State University’ will be the name of the new university in Moradabad. - Uttar Pradesh now has 34 state universities.
- In the current fiscal year, each state university has been granted Rs 50 crore.
