- This virus was first discovered in China in the year 2019.
- In the year 2021, this virus was found in Thailand.
- India is the third country to get this virus.
- This virus lives in the gills, heart, brain, liver, pancreas, spleen, intestines, kidneys, eyes and muscles of tilapia.
- Recently, for the first time in India, this virus has been found in ponds in Walajah in Ranipet district of Tamil Nadu.
- It affects the freshwater fish tilapia and causes their death.
