- Dinesh Khara will now remain the Chairman of SBI till August 2024.
- Earlier, Dinesh Khara was to retire in October 2023.
- Apart from this, the Central Government has also extended the tenure of SBI Managing Director Ashwini Tiwari by two years.

- The Government of India nationalized the Imperial Bank of India with the enactment of the State Bank of India Act 1955 and renamed it State Bank of India.
